We have made the list of qualified vendors for SpaceX. Both facilities, Windfall and Tipton are on the Falcon 9 approved vendors list. We are very excited about all the new work that SpaceX is taking on to facilitate travel to the ISS (International Space Station) as well as many other launches to come.

Guest editorial in Modern Metals Magazine, Dec 2015

The article talks about how we make the impossible possible. Using the Tipton Forging facility of High Performance Alloys, we are able to transform materials from their raw forms to more useful or efficient sizes. During this processing we are  enhancing the grain structure of the material through refinement and homogenization of the material as it is reduced in cross section.

Welding NITRONIC

NITRONIC 50

Welding this grade can be performed with AWS A5.9 ER209. If it is a thick cross section, it is recommended to use AWS A5.9 ER209. ER209 has a small addition of ferrite to resist cracking in the weld for thick sections.

Filler metal ER309 provides good strength, but not similar corrosion resistance. Welding the low carbon austenitic grades, it would be recommended to look at 316L (no weld strength) vs ER209 (which provides strength and corrosion, but not fully austenitic in the weld).

Customer surveys are coming in

Posted by Jeff Kirchner on Oct 8, 2012 4:00:00 PM

We received some interesting feedback from our surveys this last year. I am happy to announce that the results are very positive. Here are the outcomes as tallied: Quotes 85% positive with 7% negative and Orders were 92% positive with 4% negative. There were some neutral survey points that neither help nor hurt. More order surveys were completed than Quotes surveys. Yes, ideally, we would love to be at 110% on both of these surveys - but overall our QA seems happy with the metrics. We had about as many neutral as negative with an overwhelming positive outlook on High Performance Alloys.
